The bond amount depends on your contractor type: General contractors, electrical contractors, sidewalk contractors, and Wrecking Type C contractors need a $10,000 bond. HVACR (heating and cooling) contractors need a $5,000 bond. Wrecking Type B contractors need a $20,000 bond, and Wrecking Type A contractors need a $30,000 bond. All bonds are governed by Indianapolis Code of Ordinances Section 875-109.

How long is the Indianapolis Contractor Bond valid?

The Indianapolis Contractor Bond has a 2-year term and expires on December 31 of even-numbered years (such as December 31, 2026 or December 31, 2028). Continuous bonds are not accepted by the City of Indianapolis. You must renew your bond before it expires to maintain your contractor license.
